FRRC and WIR 2008

April 14, 2008

Things are coming along nicely for the 2008 race season. Our car counts look to be pretty similar to 2007, except for the super stock division where we have many new cars competing..many being first year drivers. I have been feverishly working on updating the nightly program flyers for 2008. I have secured sponsorship for all spots, but still need to collect or create a few ads for this year. Practice day is coming soon..May 10th to be exact.

I have also been busy preparing for my first season as the head coach of flag football at the Kimberly YMCA after 3 seasons as an assistant coach and spot duty as head coach. Coaching is something I have a great passion for and hope to be able to expand more for the Kimberly school district as my children age. With my son also being in a park rec baseball league this summer, it will keep me quite busy chasing after my little athlete. (he still isnt interested in racing go karts...but that is fine with me, I'll support whatever he wants to do in life.) having the 8 month old has also anchored me quite a bit. Justin does still like watching the races...

2007 reflections and a peek into 2008

December 6, 2007

2007---Definiteley need to update these blogs more often, as well as the front page...The 2007 season was very successful for wir and frrc. FRRC ended up with well over $40,000 in the points fund, which was the most successful season in several years. Each year it seemed the points fund dwindled and dwindled down to a couple years where there was $0 points payout and the club had to pay the drivers 85% of the advertised payout. This trend has steadily increased to around a $15,000 payout in 2005, over $20,000 in 2006 and over $40,000 in 2007. I see many reasons why we had such a great success, but certainly great leadership had a lot to do with it. There have been several frrc officers, the book keeper and other club volunteers that have contributed to this success. The 2007 season started out less than aceptable, but due to some quick changes and re-organizing of duties, the season flowed pretty well. Fans were treated by a special appearance by Nascar star Kyle Busch, which gave the fans something special for their normal admission price and gave the drivers a little more in their year end points checks. Car counts went up in the top...

2007 Season and beyond....

June 11, 2007

Well, the first week had some bumps and bruises, but we got through the show at 11:10pm (Pretty late for a school night). This week we hope to keep the show moving along at a much brisker pace. We have implemented a pick-a-lane restart that allows more side by side racing and drivers who are comfortable in the outside lane to get rewarded for choosing to start on the outside.

Due to a vacation and an unplanned absence by the Plan B staff, Clint will be in the tower almost the whole night on 6/14/07 running the RACESTAT computer. This week is the first leg of the triple crown and the kids ride-along program. Then, on Sunday night I am going where I belong on father's day--Slinger Super Speedway !!!!

Jodiewoman will vacate the 1/4 mile flagstand starting this week and spot from turn one by the safety crew. She will still do her normal routine in the 1/2 mlle flagstand (Assistant Flag wo-man). Only 2 more months until we get to welcome another Clintman Jr. into this world. When does the madness end???

Having a family with 3 small children may take me further away from the racetrack this...

FRRC Off Season planning coming along very well !!!!

March 14, 2007

The newly elected officers Chris "Bam Bam" Shields (V.P.) and Larry McArthur (Treasurer) have both been GREAT additions to the head table. They have been taking on more and more duties as time goes on. It should be noted that as time goes on it has become more and more apparent as these duties arrise that Cheryl Schneider has put in more extra hours than anyone else associated with the club over the past few years. Judi Monday has also been someone who has donated a lot of her time to the club without reimbursement. PLEASE THANK EITHER OR BOTH OF THESE TWO GALS THE NEXT TIME YOU SEE THEM FOR ALL THE HARD WORK AND DEDICATION THEY HAVE DONE FOR THE BETTERMENT OF FRRC !!!!!!!!

I havent been able to do many updates on my website, due to being busy lining up contingency sponsors and sponsors for our nightly socrecard idea. My time should free up more to do more frequent updates once the season starts. Believe it or not, being an officer is like having another part time job !!!! There is a lot more work than meets the naked eye to make a program run properly. Most...

FRRC prepares for the 2007 race season

January 12, 2007

FRRC---Finalizing rule changes, procedural changes, personnel changes and other FRRC business has been occupying much of my recent time. The club officers have been meeting regularly to make sure we do enough planning to have an even more successful year than last year. We will have a 15 week Thursday night racing schedule, beginning on 5/24/07 and wrapping up on 8/30/07. We will be having many family activities planned again in 2007, such as the kids club, coin drop, kids ride along night, big wheel races, etc. We hope to have most of this organized by the 1/22/07 FRRC membership meeting.

WIR---It appears as though the Red and Blue races will both be part of the WCS touring series. However, the spring opener will not be happening in 2007. Instead, the plan is for the Midwest ASA Touring series to come in for the Dixeland race on Tuesday, August 7th. WIR and ASA Midwest exec's have been working diligently on creating a race that will be successful and may feature special appearances by several legends of W.I.R. I will be returning in 2007 to do Pit Stewarding, flagging and whatever else is needed for all the specials at W.I.R., including the EVE...
